Four laser treatments in one session. From the inside through the cheek to a closing peel.
What Fotona 4D costs with us, how the four steps go and what the full package is, is on Fotona 4D in Rotterdam.
Where it lands
Fotona 4D is not a single treatment but a protocol of four layers that follow one another in the same session. It starts from the inside with SmoothLiftin through the cheek mucosa, then FRAC3 goes for depth, PIANO heats the tissue flatly and evenly, and SupErficial finishes with a light laser peel. Every step reaches a different depth, and together they tackle slackness, texture and colour in one go.

What happens
Acts on
Water
Every skin cell is largely water. Aim at that and you hit tissue and not colour.
- Stratum corneumThe outer layer of dead cells. What happens here shows quickly and heals quickly.Passes through here
- EpidermisWhere your pigment sits and where new skin cells come from.It works here
- Upper dermisThis is where the connective tissue starts. What you reach here heals by building. It works here
- Deep dermisHair roots, vessels and the firmness of your skin. Working this deep needs a reason. It works here
What happens,
in order.
Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.
From the inside
SmoothLiftin warms the tissue through the cheek, where the skin cannot be reached from outside.
At depth
FRAC3 and PIANO work in the dermis: the first aimed at irregularities, the second as even heat.
Afsluitend
SupErficial takes the top layer off with a light laser peel, which makes the skin smoother.
What you notice in the chair
You are given protective goggles that stay on for the whole treatment. The first step happens in your mouth: a handpiece goes against the inside of your cheek and that feels warm.
Then the therapist works on the outside. The heating mode rises to just short of uncomfortable, and during the session she asks how warm it feels. The last step feels like short taps.
What this treatment is meant for
On the left where this treatment works well, on the right when another treatment does more for you.
- Works at four depths at once: from the mucous membrane to the top layer of skin
- Tackles laxity, texture and colour in the same session
- Needs no needles and no cutting
- For skin that has let go, surgery is the answer
- How much your skin builds differs per person, so we record the course of it
- This is a series, so you book the sessions one after another

Frequently asked questions
Why is it called 4D?
Because four treatments follow one another in one session, each at a different depth. From the mucous membrane on the inside to the top layer of skin.
Can I have one of the four separately?
Yes. SmoothLiftin, FRAC3, PIANO and SupErficial each have their own page and can be booked separately. Which one suits you, you hear at the intake.
When do I see something of it?
Straight after the session the skin looks fuller from the heat, but that is not a result yet. Building collagen takes weeks; the difference builds across the series.
How long does an appointment take?
Allow 90 minutes at the clinic. That is the time reserved for you in the calendar, including the cleansing beforehand.
How much recovery time do I need?
A few hours to a day red and warm, as though you had sat too long in the sun.
How often do I need to come?
As a one-off or as a course of three, with four to six weeks in between. What suits you, you hear at the intake.
What does it cost?
From 370 euros; the amount depends on the option you choose. Every option is on the price page.
Start with a skin analysis
The therapist looks at your skin, measures with the EVE-M and establishes what suits you. You hear straight away how many sessions it involves and what it costs. If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived.
