Referring to Diba. What you should know.
This page is for GPs, practice nurses, dermatologists and other healthcare providers considering sending a patient here. It starts with where the line lies, because that is the question that makes your referral usable.
Diba Clinics is in Rotterdam. There are 11 people working here, some of whom carry a legally protected title.
There are two reasons why something does not happen here. They are worked out per concern on a page of their own.
This belongs with a doctor
Not because we do not feel like it, but because it falls outside the scope of a skin therapist. This is where a good clinic sends you away.
This is not possible right now
Almost always temporary. It says for how long, so that you know when you can come.
Where your patient ends up
One title is protected by law.
For referrers we state clearly which job titles and registrations apply.
Skin therapist
Protected titleWorks with the devices and the treatments: laser, light, needling, peels. Judges what your skin can take and tunes the settings to it.
Orthomolecular skin specialist
Looks at what plays a part from within: food, hormones, digestion. With acne and pigment that is often half the story.
Laser specialist
Works with the laser and light equipment: hair removal, and light aimed at colour or vessels. Chooses the setting per skin type and per area.
Dutch Quality Register for Paramedics
A voluntary register with a five-year cycle. Anyone who stays in it demonstrates at least 1600 working hours per period, spread over at least 36 months, and 160 points of continuing education.

Nothing is treated on a referral alone. That is not a formality: it is the reason the advice your patient takes away can be honest.
A measurement under fixed light
Every first appointment starts with an objective skin analysis: the same light, the same angle, the same settings. That image remains the starting point later appointments are measured against.
A plan with a limit in it
What is possible, how many sessions that takes and what it is not going to do. With every treatment on this site the limit is stated as emphatically as the effect.
Sometimes the advice to do nothing
If the measurement shows that treating gives little or that the moment is wrong, your patient hears that. It happens and it is not an exception.
Referring goes by letter or email
A referral letter you hand over or an email is enough. There is no portal or form, and there does not need to be.

Give your patient the referral letter, or email it to info@dibaclinics.nl. What it says is up to you; a short description of the concern and what you have already tried helps most.
What happens then
The measurement first
Nothing is treated on the referral alone. First the measurement, then a plan, and that plan can differ from what the referral says.
When in doubt
Ask first
If you are not sure whether something belongs here, email your question or call. That costs you five minutes and saves your patient an appointment that would otherwise come to nothing.
Whether and how the referrer is reported back to after the measurement has not been settled yet, so no promise is made about it. Do call or email with the question; then you hear how it stands at that moment.
