Where it lands
A device that in one treatment cleanses, loosens the top layer, empties the pores with suction and then puts active ingredients back in. It works on the upper layers, and that is exactly why you see the result straight away and have no recovery time.

What happens
Acts on
The stratum corneum
The treatment works on the outer layer of dead skin cells; the deeper layers are not treated in the same way.
- Stratum corneumThe outer layer of dead cells. What happens here shows quickly and heals quickly. It works here
- EpidermisWhere your pigment sits and where new skin cells come from.It works here
- Upper dermisThis is where the connective tissue starts. What you reach here heals by building.Does not reach here
- Deep dermisHair roots, vessels and the firmness of your skin. Working this deep needs a reason.Does not reach here
Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.

HydraFacial, during the treatment
What you notice in the chair
You lie back and the tip passes over your face in strips. What you feel is mostly the suction: a light pulling that is stronger around your nose and chin than on your cheeks. Pain is not part of it, although you clearly notice where a pore is blocked.
In between, the therapist changes the tip and the fluid. The last step feels cooler than the rest, because serum rather than suction alone reaches your skin then.
Afterwards you are done straight away. Your skin is pink and feels tight, and that settles within an hour. Make-up is fine the same day, although it is a waste of the result to cover it right away.
