What it does

Where it lands

A scar is tissue built up differently from the skin around it: tighter, with fibres running in another direction. The laser brings controlled heat into that tissue, after which the healing orders the fibres anew. So the scar becomes flatter and less red, and blends better with the skin around it. Gone it does not go.

The proportions are schematic; the depths beside them are not. Usual values for facial skin. The thickness differs per place on the body; on the back the dermis is a multiple of this. How deep we work in your case depends on the setting the therapist chooses.

What happens,
in order.

Every treatment starts with cleansing, and that is done by hand. Make-up and sebum come off and the therapist checks that everything is gone, because a device or an active ingredient that works on a layer never reaches your skin.

Assessing
The skin therapist looks at how old the scar is, how deep it sits and which way it runs. That decides the setting.
Laser on the scar
The pulses go precisely over the scar and a little of the skin around it.
Repair does the work
In the weeks after, the tissue reorders itself. That is why there are four to six weeks between sessions.

How it feels

What you notice in the chair

Every pulse feels like a short, sharp tap. On scar tissue you often feel less than on the skin around it, because the nerves run differently there.

Afterwards the area is red and warm. How long that lasts depends on the depth worked at; count on one to a few days.

Start with a skin analysis

The therapist looks at your skin, measures with the EVE-M and establishes what suits you. You hear straight away how many sessions it involves and what it costs. If you are treated in the same appointment, the intake fee is waived.
