SkinPen CIT

Medically certified microneedling: controlled pricks at a set depth that prompt the skin to repair.

With fine needles, channels are made down into the upper dermis. The skin answers with repair and collagen production; that repair is the goal, the pricks are the occasion for it. So it takes weeks before you see anything.

What we do with it

The therapist chooses the settings based on your skin, your health, the treatment area and the goal of the treatment.

The technique

What this device actually does

A microneedling pen drives a cartridge of needles in a fast up-and-down motion. The SkinPen has fourteen, and the depth is adjustable from a quarter of a millimetre to three millimetres. That range runs from just through the horny layer to into the connective tissue.

The depth is the only setting that really matters, because it decides in which layer the channel ends. Shallow reaches the epidermis and heals within a day; three millimetres reaches the layer where connective tissue is made and takes longer.

The cartridges are sterile and single-use. With microneedling the needles go through the skin barrier, so that matters.

Why this device

What is different from the other devices here

Several devices here do the same thing to the eye. Which one you get depends on your skin and on what was measured. Below is how they differ from one another.

  • Compared with

    Dermapen 4

Does the same thing: making channels so that your skin repairs itself. The difference is in the device and not in the principle, and which of the two fits depends on your skin and the area.

  • Compared with

    U225 intradermal injector

Also pricks, but to leave something behind. The SkinPen leaves nothing behind and works with the prompt alone.

About de SkinPen CIT

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from the Dermapen?

The motor design and the number of needles. The SkinPen has fourteen and works a little more calmly; the Dermapen reaches more pricks per second. The depth range on both is 0.25 to 3 millimetres.

Why does the depth matter so much?

Because it decides in which layer the channel ends. Shallow reaches the epidermis and heals within a day; three millimetres reaches the connective tissue and takes longer.

Are the needles per person?

Yes. The cartridges are sterile and single-use. With microneedling that is not a detail: the needles go through the skin barrier, and that is what the barrier was for.

Does it hurt?

Beforehand a numbing cream goes on that takes half an hour to work. What you feel after that is vibration and pressure, strongest where the skin lies thin over bone.

Measure first

The difference is in the hand that operates it

The same SkinPen CIT gives a different result in two clinics. What counts is the measurement beforehand, the setting that belongs with it and the therapist who judges what suits your skin.

  • The measurement

Under UV and in normal light, so that you know what is there and how deep.

  • The setting

Strength, depth and pulse duration are chosen for your skin, not to a standard.

  • The honest no

If this does not fit what is going on with you, we say so.
